The next time you complain about having a bad day....
remember that at least you and your kids/loved ones are not having to rush thru your daily chores/meals/use of the bathroom in fear of not getting to the bomb shelter in time...from an Israeli blogger (but could easily be about a family from **either** country, no doubt):

http://israelnorthblog.livejournal.com/2006/07/22/

Currently we have a kind of calm period. But of course we already do not believe in it.
There is always a wish to find some positive moments. And I did, if I can say so. During 10 days of war I became highly organised personality, if only you can see the speed with which I’m taking shower, dress myself, cook and wash the dishes. You would never believe. Going to the bathroom I’m saying to my husband : Tell Nasralla not to fire, I’ll be back soon.
5 floors to the bomb shelter I’m making on the same sigh, to return back is a bit more difficult, but it is already way back home - no need to hurry.
The child also started to understand that the siren can catch you in the most inappropriate moment and that’s why also does everything fast, doesn’t want to be caught naked or with mouth full of tooth paste.
Here we go.
------

Well, I'm fine, but a friend of mine has a problem.
She works for the company providing nursing services.
It was supposed to be her last month before she takes her maternity leave, and here the war comes.. The bosses fled and left the responsibility and decision making for employees.
How could she leave her cancer patient that needs at least once in two days to have her bandages changed as well as that thing she has connected to her intestines?...
If she does leave her, the woman can get infection and die. Oksana teels me 'I cannot leave her, and I don't know what to do"...And keeps visiting her once in two days on a taxi, pregnant, together with her senoir daughter, because she's afraid to leave the girl home alone - the alert can begin any minute again..

-------
Today is the whole day of civil defence lessons. I was all in a stew counting the sirens. Good thing is that nothing and noone was damaged in Haifa. But running here and back was whacking, 7 or 8 times at least. The neighbor was tired to run, took to the bomb shelter DVD player and TV and spent all the day in the bomb shelter. And I can not stand in this shelter any longer. But what can I do? My son as soon as he hears the sound of the siren rushes to the shelter ahead of all others. Of course, I cannot leave him there alone.

Today one of my friends came back from Rishon LeZion. Escaped from there 3 days ago together with son, and today her husband came to see them and she said that she cannot stand any longer staying with unknown people, she doesn’t care for sirens and missles - she wants to stay at home.

With my temper I also can not be refugee - I won’t even start.

Have a good night, especially those who are on the north.
