Hillary the only Dem who can lose, McCain the only Republican who can win?
In 1960, John Kenneth Galbraith said that Kennedy was the only Democrat who could have won, and Nixon the only Republican who could have lost. Can this happen again, but now with Hillary losing against McCain?

Don't get me wrong - I love Hillary, and there's no one I want more in the White House than her. But the Dems should choose the candidate with the best chance of winning, and can that be a female candidate?

(FYI - I'm Norwegian.)

1. sorry, my crystal ball is in the shop.
IMO it's all a crapshoot, particularly with election fraud still rampant.

4. As Bush's fortunes go, so do McCain's. I wouldn't buy stock in McCain Inc.
in 2006, with hopes of a dividend bonanza in 2008.

;-)

6. I agree about the Hillary part, disagree on McCain...
To be honest, I think that around the time of the election, a ham sandwich could win the presidency as long as they have a (D) after its name, however, the if Hillary was on the ticket, ten just change the D to an R, I don't think it would matter who the Repukes nominate, they would win instead.

8. Is that why Clinton is beating Bill Frist by 15 points?
Just asking ...

7. Hillary Clinton beats anybody not named Giuliani or McCain
However, I think some here just don't want a female in power.

9. You have that a little wrong.
There are some here that just know that their state would never vote for a female in power.

I don't think Hillary will flip any red states and she may lose us a couple of blue ones (Penn and Mich to be sure because of the rural votes in those two states).

I'm not gynophobic - I AM a female - but I know too many mushy middle people who are.

10. polls do indicate Hill flips red to blue and wins - but at 2 years out -
who the hell really knows.

pundits say their states will do whatever is fun reading - but for now the 06 is the only real thing of interest and that is up in the error now and will continue to be up in the air as long as the media does not give a damn about GOP election theft and vote suppression.

11. Hillary Clinton will be the next president.
Edited on Fri Jul-28-06 07:22 AM by robcon
She'll be even stronger when she is re-elected to the Senate with 70%+ of the vote this fall.

I don't think there is anyone who could stop her. Clinton/Obama in '08?

14. I'm going to vote for her in the primary, if she runs
She'll be a great president. There are some people who won't vote for a woman president, sure, but they are the same people who won't be voting for any democrat, anyways.

I think she could flip a red state or two. Florida is always possible, considering a good part of their population are retirees from blue states. Arkansas is possible, as she has ties there. Ohio is possible, too, depending on who is counting the votes.

But if she runs as an anti-war liberal, she will win less states than Kerry. Liberals do not win presidential elections-Carter only won because Ford was tainted by Nixon, and the born agains thought he was one of them. Bill Clinton is not and never has been a liberal.
