The Saddest Thing Of All
at this point, is that it wouldn't take much to get a cease fire in place, and to paraphrase Warren Christopher; the lofty goal of a lasting peace is not as important as saving lives. All that beastly little condi had to do was to tell the Israelis to shut down their operation or else.

13 more civilians have been killed today in Lebanon, and scores more injured. God knows what kind of infrastructure damage has been done. Whole towns are being wiped from the face of the earth. And hey, they've still got several hours more in which to create more death and destruction. I can't believe we don't even have a high level envoy over there.

Everytime I think I couldn't possibly loathe the administration anymore, they manage to do something else despicable.

1. After Everything That's Happenned, I Am Still Appalled
Condi actually has very little to do with it. She isn't making any of those decisions, and she seems extremely uncomfortable with the direction she's been given. It's direct from Bush's mouth.

I think that Bush is really going off the deep end here. His cheese has fallen off his cracker. He's losing what little judgment he had and lashing out. He is what Wallace Stevens wrote about:

"And Ludwig Richter, turbulent shlemiel,
Has lost the whole in which he was contained,
Knows desire without an object of desire --
All mind and violence and nothing felt.
He knows he nothing left to think about,
Like the wind that lashes everything at once."

2. Lebanese lives aren't worth nearly as much as Israeli lives, you know that
Just like Iraqi lives aren't worth nearly as much as American lives.

And, despite them being worth so much, Bush still doesn't have a problem throwing away American lives.

3. I could not agree more, Cali.
That she could stand there & say that we won't work for a cease fire unless we know it will last, shows the depravity of this administration. We send humanitarian aid to Lebanon & bombs to Israel. WTF?

I have had outrage fatigue for so long that I now have outrage fatigue fatigue.

4. I know people can be uninformed and gullible, but
I can't believe that ANYONE supports the BuShit administration. How can anyone look into those evil lying faces and see anything but evil? How can anyone justify what they and their Israeli counterparts are doing? Even logically, bombing the hell out of innocent people to "fight the terrists" doesn't make sense.

But stupid, gullible people are not logical. Otherwise, they wouldn't be waiting expectantly for their supernatural hero god to come swooping in to save them from their own stupidity.
