MISSION ACCOMPLISHED: UN to abandon viewing posts on Israel-Lebanon border |
|
Edited on Fri Jul-28-06 10:38 AM by tgnyc
It's all going according to plan. Next thing you know, the Israeli military will be offering journalists the opportunity to "embed" with selected units. Control what can be seen and you control the propoganda war. http://www.thetandd.com/articles/2006/07/28/ap/headlines/d8j50tn00.txt

2. they also watched war crimes |

I believe they were UNARMED UN OBSERVERS ? Their job was to observe and report. Correct me if I'm wrong.

7. No, their responsibility was to report breaches of international law |
|
regardless of who perpetrated them. They were, by title, UN observers, unarmed UN observers. They were NOT there to be peacekeepers.

6. That's what Hezbollah's done. |
|
You don't go to Hezbollah territory without permission and a guide; they tell you what you're seeing, and then they take you out.
Caught without a guard, you're suspected of being a spy. They treat S. Beirut as a war zone until their control, and the same goes for S. Lebanon.
Even the peacekeepers have been routinely obeying Hezbollah orders to show ID at checkpoints. And UNIFIL is careful about tactical information. They're very careful not to do anything that might cause Hezbollah to view them as siding with the Israelis (ponder what that's likely to mean when dealing with a group like Hezbollah).
