Focus on the Marijuana

Marijuana's new slogan: Better for you than gay marriage!

And clearly, they don't give a hoot who gathers the signatures, so long as they stop other peoples' love from being recognized.

Progress Now Action notes:

Dobson: disclose hypocritical petition-gathering funds

James Dobson is spending tens of thousands of dollars of Focus on the Family's money to hire paid signature collectors to solicit people for the so-called "marriage initiative" under the guise of protecting Colorado's families. He needs 68,000 valid signatures by August 8 to qualify.

Many of these very solicitors paid for by Dobson also are working to collect signatures for an initiative to legalize marijuana in Colorado simultaneously.

Dobson has repeatedly condemned the legalization of marijuana, claiming that it "hurts families."

This is not about the merits of legalization. This is about hypocrisy. It's about Dobson's double standards when it comes to politics.

We call on Dobson to disclose how much of Focus on the Family's money he spent on collecting signatures to "protect Colorado families" by the very same people who are working for the legalization of marijuana. http://www.progressnowaction.org/page/petition/0706dobsonhypo

6. They did in Texas
HJR No. 6 passed in Texas yesterday, supposedly to ban gay marriage. But read the text closely.

Sec. 32
(a) Marriage in this state shall consist only of the union of one man and one woman.
(b) This state or a political subdivision of this state may not create or recognize any legal status identical or similar to marriage.

Is it egg-heady coastal elitism to point out that Texas just defined marriage and then made it illegal for everybody, even heteros? I wonder if “family values” include literacy.

It will save me money when I get a divorce.

10. My state is run by a crowd of village idiots.
What is the difference between marriage and something identical to marriage? Answer - nothing. So that makes all marriage illegal by merit of being identical to...wait for it...marriage.

Stuuuupppid.

11. Either that, or it was a devious plot by rich white men to avoid
divorce expenses.

8. or at least make marriage licenses renewable
say evey 4 years, that would cut the divorce rate and make everyone except lawyers happy plus it would make more income for the states.
