New Poll: Dems hold a 46-35 percent lead on Congressional election
By 46-35 percent the Dems lead the generic battle for congress in 2006. They lead among men by 4-points and women by a whopping 17-points.

74% consider the economy a very important issue
60% consider Iraq a very important issue.

Which is more important? bby 54-33 percent the economy is chosen. Among self-described liberals it is a toss up.

1. Notable that this is Repub-tilted Rasmussen.
Do you think this kind of news will give the wobbly Dem Senators a spine transplant so they can oppose Alito?

2. That is nice, but the only poll that counts is the one in November
AND ONLY IF WE INSURE THAT THE VOTING IS ACCURATE

It has been six years since the 2000 election and remarkably little has been done to correct the deficiencies

6. Unfortunately, polls don't win elections.
When these same people enter the voting booth they generally vote for their incumbent candidate. It's all the OTHER Congressional thieves that are the problem, not THEIR Congressional thief!
Unless there are open seats being contested or your name is Tom Delay (or a similar Republican pariah) you're pretty much assured re-election. Sad, but true.
And THEN there's the little issue of the voting machines themselves. Remember, it's NOT who gets the most votes, it's who COUNTS the votes that's important. The GOP has had a leg up for the last few election cycles in that department.

9. National polls don't mean much.
State and district polls would be a more accurate reflection, though this gives the "national mood."

11. Yikes, I hate these polls.
A voter having an opinion that Democrats should control Congress may feel perfectly fine about their own Republican representative, and proudly vote for them. I hope Dems don't get any false confidence from these numbers - it's important to keep in mind we have to win in individual races.

15. Why would this matter?
If the RePIGlicans want their guy "elected," their guy will be "elected." If not elected, then SELECTED. As in 2000, 2002 and 2004. Where the heck have you been?

How can anyone have the slightest bit of faith in an electoral system that is so horribly broken and corrupt?

17. We gotta make this a reallity.
Please put aside your difference with your elected official and get him in office. We can weed the garden later. There is a time to plant a seed and prune a weed after all.
