Poll question: Are the American people morally responsible for the civilian deaths caused |
|
in their name with their tax money? Obviously this is in reference to ALL off the horror brought by the American War Machine to the Iraqis and Afghanis, including sanctions and these "wars"

1. Our tax money is stolen out of our paychecks |
|
so we are not given the chance to volunteer it for the war effort.
In fact, nothing with the threat of jail behind it can be considered voluntary. It's all coercive.
In ordinary times, this is just fine, keeps us all honest. In times like this, with madmen in control of government and squandering our money on military horrors, it is incredibly frustrating.
Adding guilt to frustration is counterproductive.

Your thread just made me wonder what people thought of our own moral culpability in this situation. I didn't mean to take your thunder  I sometimes don't always look to see if people are posting multiple items. I seriously meant no offense, and was honestly curious what the answer would be

but what power do we really have - the MIC that allows the horror is not up for reelection. no matter who you vote for, our militarized foreign policy will march on.

7. We put the bastards in power; we are keeping them in power |
|
We are therefore collaborators in every war crime they commit.

8. Were the Iraqi people morally responsible for the civilians Saddam killed |
|
No, not entirely.
Did that matter when we started to bomb the shit out of their country? Nope.
Ultimately, when war comes to your doorstep, it doesn't matter whether YOU personally were responsible. Loyalist and anti-Ba'athist, Sunni and Sh'ia... they were all equally fucked.
