Lebanon is Hezbelloh... Hezbelloh is Lebanaon |
|
Hezbelloh is a grass roots lebaneese militia group. Its aim is to counter Israel. More than 80% of Lebaneese (Christians and Muslims) approve of Hizbullah.
TO get rid of Hezbolloh.. Israel and the US will have to commit GENOCIDE.
Sounds like they're up to it though.

And that Aoun guy who I don't claim to know much about, basically is the big kahuna of the Christian side and was on board for the national unity government... and is not interested in breaking that national unity and going back to Lebanese Christian fighting Lebanese Shiite. And at any rate public opinion won't stand for it anymore.
Maybe Hezbollah wasn't Lebanon before. Thanks to Israel, all Lebanese are Hezbollah, so there's no longer any point in restraining support, is there?

This probably accomplishes what was originally intended. Regime change for lebanon...to a new and improved US/Israel puppet!

2. That 80% approval rate is up from 29% before this war started. |
|
So. How's that violence going for you? Accomplishing what you wanted?
Thought not.

5. Israel's violence seems to accomplish quite a bit for them. |
|
which is, of course, why Israel keeps committing attrocities and instigating violence.

They couldn't or wouldn't "disarm" Hezbollah. Hezbollah does not = Lebanon.
When will some real thinkers step up to the plate?

Lebanon want to live and let live. Israel does not want to get rid of Hezbollah, only of its long-range missiles and to push it back so that its missiles cannot fall on Israeli communities.
Just as the PLO in the 70s took over villages in South Lebanon - against their will, as was later found out - so probably does Hezbollah. YOu have farmers who just want to be left alone and all of a sudden a terror group comes in, takes over their homes to be used as a base for attacking Israel.
In many cases they booby trap their homes and if they are hit, hey, those 70 virgins are waiting in their hell.

13. I'm sorry, I heard the direct opposite from Israeli leaders. |
|
They wanted Hezbollah disarmed and dismantled. If they're not calling for that now it's only because the IDF has discovered it cannot destroy Hezbollah on its own without indiscriminate killing.
I don't think when I heard Israel's leaders say they wanted Hezbollah disarmed as a condition for peace that at the time, they were somehow joking.

Israel is not up to committing genocide.
Israel should withdraw and Hezbollah should disarm.
The Lebanese army should be the sole military force in Lebanon.
Edited to include "up to"

19. Whether it is or isn't |
|
The rationale is that there is a finite number of terrorists that can be herded somewhere or killed, by blowing up broad areas of a country (the "Bush" doctrine). That rationale is flawed. Israelis are killed by acts of violence against them. Those acts aren't people. The potentional for those acts exists in a non-finite number of people.
Hezbollah could or could not be representative of a large number of Lebanese. Being representative is not being the same as.
