For a group known for singing and talking back to Simon Cowell, the ten American Idol finalists were strangely quiet when it came to talking to reporters at the White House.

They were invited by Laura Bush’s press secretary, because she was Taylor Hicks’ ninth grade English teacher.

The Idol finalists got their pictures taken with the president in the Oval Office, and reporters hoped they’d say a few words afterward. But after more than a half-hour reporters gave up when nobody showed.

They’ll be making plenty of noise tonight when they continue their summer tour a few blocks from the White House.{/div]
