Eastward, Ho!

I try not to commit poetry in public, but I like the way this one (humorous & political doggerel) turned out, so I put it on my Web site:

I started composing it as I was driving, as a way to pass the hours, and the ended up completing it recently.

Well, see, the Interstate between Denver and Kansas City is extremely straight and flat, for the most part, so you don't really have to pay attention to the road . . .

No, actually I was doing it in my mind and then entering it into my Palm Pilot at rest stops. That was a first for me, and it was kind of fun. I may do it again, on the next trip.

7. Suddenly I'm thinking about a poem

based entirely on "shit" and synonyms and their rhymes. E.g., shit rhymes with twit, feces with species, and so on.

It would be about George W. Bush.

That shoots productivity for this evening!

If you kept driving east you could have innaugurated the poem with a reading at Eastward Ho! golf club. I doubt the members would appreciate it though...quite WASPY don't ya know...
