it helps calm them down and prevents violent acting out.

I sure odn't want to put myself into the same arena as the people you're talking aobut, but I know, when I'm really pi**ed at Shrub or some of the other Pugs, and I post my anger here on DU, it's an outlet for my anger!!!!

To answer your OP - I think hate does contribute to violence as people tend to look for enemies. The more we demonize people the more they can find a scapegoat for issues.
