Owner of pitbull in Kansas City arrested- manslaughter |
|
We had a pitbull killing in Kansas City, Ks two days ago. Pitbulls are banned in KCk. The owner has been charged with involuntary manslaughter - they are just going to throw the book at that guy to make him an example.
And now the city is starting to really enforce the pitbull law - they have been really lax on that in the past. Pitbulls have been outlawed there since about 1990. Part of the uproar is that the lady who was killed had called Animal Control several times about those dogs and they hadn't done anything.
What a terrible mess this is.

This has gotten way out of control here on the KS side.
KCK animal control, like the flood control district is a political patronage dept with little or no actual functionality.

2. We don't have nearly enough money in KCMO for animal control |
|
I think there are about 4 trucks for the whole city.
North of the River we have virtually no animal control. People just take injured animals to the veterinarians. They get stuck trying to deal with all those unwanted animals.

6. Of course - although we have had several really bad incidents |
|
with pitbulls in the last few months. But the fact that animal control should have done their job and didn't (several times) is going to add to this controversy.

8. Well, I'm Sure They're Underfunded and Swamped. |
|
You never hear about the good work they do until someone ends up dead.
You know what I would LOVE to see? A report of, like, a chihuahua mauling someone to death. That would be so cool! But, no...it's always the stinkin' pit bulls.

9. You Know What Irony Just Hit Me HARD? |
|
The city of Kansas City is "working hard" to RID itself of pit bulls...meanwhile, that city, like all American cities, is awash in guns.
"I want to speak very directly to the citizens of my community: It is illegal to own a pit bull in Kansas City,”
You go, mayor.
"Guns don't kill people, pit bulls do."
But, if they get rid of all the pit bulls, who's going to "take a bite out of crime?"
Man I'm in a testy mood this morning. Is it too soon to start drinking?

11. If the victim had had a gun, the outcome would've been a happy one. |
|
I know if I'd have been there, the dog would've been dead, not the elderly victim.

13. Unless the Pit Bull Was Trained to Handle Glocks |
|
After all, those pit bulls are vicious, you know. She WAS 71, after all. That dog could have not only ripped that gun from her paper thin hands, but then turned it on her and riddled her frail body with armor piercing bullets.
And how many people take their gun with them into their backyards, anyway? I leave mine on the kitchen counter, right next to the baby formula, every time.

And do you ever wonder why no one ever raises vicious blood-thirsty Golden Retreivers? Man, I kinda wish that would happen, don't you? Just for a change of pace? Something to really get our attention.

17. We just kids brought into state custody in Wichita because their parents |
|
had 68 pit bulls they were raising to sell in the home. They were stacked everywhere in the house. Wouldn't be surprised if he got the dog from them. My brother had a pit who was a great dog, but he trained the dog well and always treated it great. Those poor dogs in that house have got to be mean.
