Animations Show Global Warming's Potential Effects on Coastal Cities
Edited on Sat Jul-29-06 01:49 PM by stepnw1f
snip....

The animations below show the flooding we can anticipate in major cities as global warming raises sea levels and leads to stronger hurricanes. They show that as sea levels rise, even relatively weak storms will be able to do a great deal of damage. See below for more resources and a discussion of the role of global warming in strengthening hurricanes.

Which city do you live in?

9. From the animation. it looks like
Downtown Boston, the Public Gardens, Boston Common, Back Bay, MIT, Harvard, and a lot of Cambridge will be no more. (Logan Airport will also be gone.)

Martha's Vineyard and most of Cape Cod will also disappear.

Scary stuff.

Just about... the Quicktime video worked for me. It does not look good....

The model is based on a 3 meter rise in sea levels.

12. I Would Asume you will see a rise
in water levels as well, since the St. Lawrence is connected to the ocean. Not to mention the Mississippi, although I really don't know much about their levies.
