U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor and U.S. Rep. Mike Ross, both D-Ark., are still pushing for usage of nearly 10,000 mobile homes stationed at the municipal airport in Hope, Ark.

Language in Federal Emergency Management Agency regulations prohibiting usage of manufactured homes in flood plains would be waived once, according to language added by Pryor to the Hurricane Katrina Emergency Management Reform Act of 2006, passed by a Senate committee.

“FEMA is wrong to withhold these homes from families struggling to rebuild their lives and communities. It shouldn’t take an act of Congress to deliver these homes to the families they were built to help, but it has,” Pryor said.

In a phone interview, Ross echoed those thoughts, saying these homes could have been delivered months ago if President George Bush had signed an executive order waiving the regulations.

“It continues to be a symbol of what’s wrong with this administration ... this whole issue goes back to accountability and the lack of accountability ...” he said.

2. Katrina who?
The Chimperor hasn't thought of the Gulf coast and N.O. since his last photo op there in the fall of '05. Now it's one big money-making opportunity for the haves, with the added bonus of weeding out some strong blue areas of the country. The have-nots can panhandle for all Chimpy cares - - not that he really thinks about them...
