The World is on Fire by Governor Bill Richardson
The World is on Fire
by Governor Bill Richardson
Sat Jul 29, 2006

As the world's only superpower and its greatest hope for the future, America holds incredible promise. The challenges we face offer new opportunities for peace, security and prosperity.

Yesterday Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said"

"We're for staying the course in Iraq and the war on terror."

But as the world faces crises on multiple fronts - from oil prices to Lebanon, Iraq to North Korea - it is time for our country to chart a new course. The threats of nuclear proliferation, terrorism, and international Jihadism grow daily. Our great military, bogged down in Iraq, cannot meet every threat alone.

It is time for a new realism in our foreign policy.

It is time to use our military as a last resort, not a first option.

It is time for a rebirth of American diplomacy, to win back friends and
isolate our enemies.

I am honored that the Democratic party chose me to offer our solutions to the problems facing our country.

Today, I deliverd the Democratic response to President Bush's Weekly Radio Address...

2. You don't want that scumbag as president.
He took the cash, jumped in bed with Newt, and sold us down the river in the 90s. NAFTA, GATT, WTO, and just about every big money repuke policy found a friend in Bill.

6. He's been born again in regard to election reform.
He's maybe the most progressive of the governors now on this voting machine thing.

Maybe he's acting out of insincere motives. I don't know and I don't care, but he's done a lot to help NM from what I've read take a lead in voting fairness and accuracy. He's outlawed the touchscreens and gone entirely with optiscans and audits.

Of course, he didn't lift a finger until a lawsuit started going thru the courts and he realized it might be embarrassing if the lawsuit succeeded and he did nothing.

Whatever.

However he got there, he's a real friend of election reform right now, I think.
