What's this about Ted Kennedy being a member of the same..
club Alito belonged to? I wrote my column this week about Alito, and just had a call that said Ted Kennedy was a member of the same club. Of course, the fact that Kennedy went to Harvard, not Princeton, might make the statement wrong in and of itself, but does anyone know what the freeper who called me was talking about?

1. the freeper had it wrong...
big surprise there.

What he was referring to, though, is that Kennedy was part of a men-only club at Harvard.

Of course, when Kennedy was at Harvard, it was a men-only college.

Not quite the same as Alito being in a group at Princeton who wanted minorities and women OUT of the school.

6. thanks spanone,......
People, it's all about the "framing" now. We are on OFFENSE now. Do not let repugs turn the debate. THEY are the criminal assholes. We got proof!!

Let's all pretend we're Rev. Al (Sharpton or Gore, it doesn't matter), and go for their jugular on these scandals.

12. yeah but...
regardless of whether or not Kennedy was trying to become a supreme court justice it would still be reprehensible if he was a memeber of this group or anything associated with it. Fortunately we know that he was not.

3. Owl Club at Harvard
Not the same club, merely a male only club until about 1980 when females were allowed.

5. Harvard was male students only when Kennedy attended
And it was not an active political club like the one Alito was in.

11. Yeah, I noticed that...
The guy who called me is an old grump, and I just uh-huhed him a lot. It really irritated him, but I didn't want to bother with an argument I couldn't win. Come to think of it, he probably didn't know the difference between Harvard and Princeton.
