Howard Dean and Ed Rendell at Dem Reunion (pic heavy)
Gov. Dean and Gov. Rendell spoke to a hot and hungry group of Dems in Westmoreland County, PA today at the Dem Reunion 'Christmas in July'. Both focused primarily on domestic issues.

Gov Dean's theme was "Republicans don't care about ordinary Americans"
He stressed:
Honesty in government
Tell the truth to Americans and the troops
American jobs stay in America
Healthcare
Education
Increase minimum wage the right way
Social Security and Pensions

Gov. Rendell was truly preaching to the choir. His theme was that moral values are Democratic values. Ed didn't forget to reminded us all how much he has done for PA. He's been through the campaign mill 18 times in his career. He's a pro, and it shows.

I have lots of pics for you Howard (and Ed) fans. PM me if you want more, and I'll put them into a photobucket album for you.

1. Great pics. Looks like a good crowd.
Would love to see more of them. We had a good crowd at ours, but our pics did not come out well...need a new digital camera. A friend took some though.

Was Murtha there also?

2. No, he was in DC today.
We were a little disappointed, but I guess we shouldn't complain.
Both Dean and Rendell were awesome.
Yes, good crowd and great food. Polka band, which was surprisingly cool (It's western PA. We do that here.)
I've started a photobucket album. I'll pm you the details then finish loading the pics.

18. Another Westmoreland Co. person on the DU....
My husband and I couldn't make it to Mammoth Park today due to other commitments. Thanks for posting the pictures. If you are in SW Greensburg on Thursday, you will see me holding peace signs along the highway w/Fr. Bernard (at 119 and 30). Last Thursday was my first day, and we only had three negative responses. Some nice lady even went and bought us drinks (pop) in SW PA. It was a wonderful experience. Thanks for the pictures.

20. I'm actually in Allegheny
but grew up in Fayette Co, so I'm familiar with the area. I came to your event with a friend from Westmoreland Co. The parkway was a disaster, but it was worth it!
Good luck on Thursday! Good to hear it was such a positive experience.

7. Did I see you there?
I was wearing a black shirt and jeans. Blonde hair, Kerry button on my purse.
I saw two DU stickers in the parking lot. Were you one of them?
What did you think of Rendell's speech?
Damn, it was humid. I'm wiped out.

13. If you saw DU stickers on an old black Honda, that would be me.
I spent most of my time sitting with demodonkey. I was tempted to ask Glenn to do a shoutout for DU'rs but I'm a socially stunted neanderthal. I thought Rendell's speech was pretty good. He just stated plain and simple what he and the party has done in the state and didn't go negative. I got there too late to see Gov Dean, but got to catch up with someone that I grew up with and hadn't seen in decades. I'm glad I made it and the only thing that would have been better would have been a DU get together.

like to attend a Democratic Westmoreland County met-up let me know. These met-ups are usually well attended.

10. "Republicans don't care about ordinary Americans": Excellent
Too many current Democrats in Congress are too timid to use that kind of direct, biting phrase.

caveat: there a few -- a few -- Repubs who do care about ordinary Americans, but they are a dying breed (Pete McCloskey, Walter Jones)

Sounds like a good time.

Howard is looking quite fit and chipper, especially in that top pic. I think his job is suiting him well - seems like a guy who appreciates a challenge!

I was unable to attend, unfortunately. :hangshead:

Yep, Joe is the coolest. He has a good shot at taking Weldon down, but you know the Republican Smear Machne is out there in force, looking for straws to grasp:

You did a really, really great job on the pictures. The messages were wonderful weren't they? Although, I still think more needs to bre said on the Iraq war. The Repubs are, after all, running again on security and "keeping us all safe".

19. It was pretty much all domestic issues.
But the speeches were good.
How did hubby's pics turn out? I have a little bit of video, too, but I haven't got around to downloading it. Looks pretty good, though.
Thanks for a great day!

21. He got some great shots.
As I am posting pictures illiterate, he said he would help me with posting some tomorrow. He has two shots of Dean and Rendell together and the body language says it all- DLC virus Grassroots. I hope we all come to a consensus soon within the party.

Oh, no need to thank me, it was great that you could make it. It was damn hot though. I felt like a wet rag the whole day.
