Is The Country on the Verge of Realizing Hamilton’s Dream? |
|
Edited on Wed Jan-18-06 04:38 PM by The Whiskey Priest
With the election of Thomas Jefferson in 1800 it was thought that the Federalists and Hamilton’s dream of a United States government built upon a monarchy and an aristocracy had been beaten back. Now, in 2006, we hear the term “Unitary Executive” banded about as if it were a legitimate political philosophy to be considered.
For decades now, it has been passé to talk of ruling elite, a government built upon inherited wealth and empowered with the privileges of rank. The form and type of government that Hamilton envisioned and that the Fedralist worked hard to put in place.
This is not some idle academic chatter, a quick review of Bush administrations and Republican party actions over the last five years add weight to an argument that the Federalist and Hamiltonian dream is still alive and realization is under way.
Does anyone agree with this proposition?

Certainly in terms of federal spending.

Good luck with that. The way everyone holds the founding fathers in God-like esteem, there is no room for any more revolutionaries.

5. There's no question that we're turning into more of a federalist state. |
|
Really, the people that are in charge right now only care about one thing: the almighty dollar.
They dont give a shit about New Orleans, they dont give a shit about Afghanistan or Iraq, or Syria or Iran. They only care about MONEY. And of course, the only way they'll help someone is if they can profit off of it.

This is being ignored by the media, and it is too important to just ignore. There's been way too many Federalist Society assholes about in the last 25 years. Their objective is clear: outright ownership of the USA and all its citizens, a la Oliver Twist, A Christmas Carol, etc. These are the people that root fro Scrooge, and they are in charge now.

control of the court. That was the last Federalist bastion when Jefferson was elected...I think it was Adams, perhaps Hamilton that said,"at least we have the courts...speaking of John Marshall."

9. Adams may have been a federalist, but he was not a corporatalist |
|
He and Jefferson agreed on the one point that corporations were a threat to democracy and should not be given a chance to be influential in government policies.
