Rule Breaking: Khephra, you are so missed.
LBN was probably the best news source in America with him monitoring and posting.

I apologize for this, mods, but I felt that there's a lot of other LBN people that miss him as well. Thanks for your indulgence.

6. Kephra, or kef, was a DUer much beloved by everyone.
Edited on Sat Jul-29-06 11:21 PM by Fridays Child
He was a news junkie and he posted many, many breaking stories and other articles. Additionally, his own comments showed him to be an extremely insightful and compassionate young man. Sadly, he passed away very suddenly. Virtually, the entire membership went into a state of shock over his untimely death and many of us grieve for him, to this day.

Kef was a gem of a person.

Khephra was one of the names I remember always looking for. He is still missed a great deal. Thank you for the tribute to him, it's good to remember old friends. RIP, Khephra, and Andy, and Jeff, and the others who have gone on.

14. Thank you, Tom. I miss Keph so much.
When I first started visiting DU, the LBN thread was where I always went first, and Kephra was who I looked for, because whether he was posting a news item, or an opinion, everything he had to say was worth reading.

16. I loved his Egyptian graphic...
The Eye of Horus, maybe? I can't remember the proper name but I always looked for it...

I am not the most active of posters, but I remember his contributions well. I remember the day I heard of his passing, I just shut down for a while. He was such a vital member of this board, and I remember thinking it would never be the same.

RIP, kheph.

32. The Eye of Horus
Designed to resemble the eye of a falcon, this symbol is called the Eye of Ra or Eye of Horus represents the right eye of the Egyptian Falcon God Horus. As the udjat (or utchat), it represented the sun, and was associated with the Sun God Ra (Re).

21. Others have stepped in to fill the hole he left.
You are right. He made LBN an important resource. (And the DU mods would be justified in re-naming it "LBN-Thanks Khephra"). But even without that re-naming, the fact that others have carried it forward is a tribute to his work.

30. This is a tribute, not a calling out.
Like you, I miss Khephra a lot. But there are many DUers who are trying to pick up the lack of Khephra. I speak of JudiLynn, sabra, kpete, barrett808, to name a few.

I appreciate their efforts to keep up so well informed.

40. I originally posted this in LBN
after posting several stories and remembering how hard it was to get the scoop on Khephra.

He really had his finger on the pulse of the world.

And this is not LBN and I'm thankful to the mods for letting it stay there as long as it did.
