Edited on Sun Jul-30-06 01:45 AM by Tom Joad
QANA, Lebanon, July 30 (Reuters) - An Israeli air strike on a south Lebanon village on Sunday killed at least 35 civilians, including 21 children, witnesses and rescue workers said.

They said several houses in the village of Qana collapsed and that a three-story building where about 100 civilians were sheltering was partially destroyed.

2. It's a major British newspaper. And you can find other sources for the
quote, too. Probably. It would help if you knew hebrew, also. Many things published in the Hebrew language not translated into english.

7. That's what I was afraid of.
Please post links of a few of those other sources, if you don't mind. I do believe you, but I'd like to have the links also and I had a hard time finding them when I did a google search. Just trying to have my ducks in a row so I can state this info in discussions with others and back it up with a variety of sources.

9. I'm sorry, I wasn't at all clear in my post...
I was referring to the "you're all targets" part of the OP. That's what I had trouble finding other sources for. Thanks for the link though.

3. Dozens killed, wounded in Israeli airstrike
<snip>

"An Israeli airstrike hit a four-story residential building used as a shelter by Lebanese refugees in the southern Lebanese town of Qana Sunday morning, killing and wounding more than 65 people, a Lebanese emergency official said.

The official -- speaking live on Al-Arabiya TV -- said the bodies of 15 dead had been pulled from the rubble but rescuers lacked the heavy equipment to remove an estimated 50 people still trapped under the collapsed building.

"We can't do anything for them under the rubble because we do not have the right equipment," the unidentified official said.

A Lebanese security official told CNN that between 20 and 40 are known dead.

Most of the dead were gathered in the basement of the building when it was hit by a missile, the official said. Women and children were among the dead, he said."

34 youths among 56 dead in Israeli attack

By KATHY GANNON, Associated Press Writer, 7/30/2006

QANA, Lebanon - An Israeli airstrike killed at least 56 people, including at least 34 children, in a southern Lebanese village Sunday, the Lebanese Red Cross said. It was the deadliest attack in 19 days of fighting. Lebanese security officials put the toll at 57 dead. Security officials said the toll rose dramatically after 18 people from two families were found in a single room of the building, where dozens of people had been taking refuge from the fighting...
