Peace Vigil Growing
About a month ago as I was driving through town I saw on the corner two people, a man and a woman, holding a candle with peace signs. They were just standing there, not saying anything, letting their posters speak for them. They have been there every weekend now by themselves. On friday, as we drove through town, their peace vigil had grown to about twenty people. Signs all ranged from the war in Iraq to Israel and Lebanon. Maybe next week I'll get some pics to post.

I just wanted to share this to show people that these movements are growing, it may start small, they may only have twenty people now, but just a few weeks ago, they only had two.

PEACE!

1. Peace to you, Maine-ah. Perhaps this is the way to get something
going. There are many frustrated people out there.

2. well that's what I was thinking.
Everything has to start somewhere and it usually starts small. I think that if we could all start one in our town, we'd see similar results.

3. We've been Peace vigilling here since the beginning of Bush's War.
There are about 20 of us who go, more or less, every weekend. I do this instead of church. It feels better than church.

Last weekend about 300 people of ME descent came and stood with us. They were carrying Lebanese and Palestinian flags, banners or various types, and homemade signs. They were ALL ages. I spoke to many of them and they said things about how all of us must accept the rights of others to live.

4. Glad to hear they're out there
it takes it away from the republicans and right-wingers who keep claiming the ME people support the violence and want us all dead ect...ect....

Keep up the good work!

5. Thanks.
I was just thinking: When would I EVER have a chance to talk to a Palestinian, were it not for that street corner? Good things happen when you try, maybe not necessarily exactly what you dream about, but Good nonetheless.
