Qana & the mathematics of war

The Israelis are usually good at divvying up casualties, kind of like spreading food out on your plate and hiding some in your napkin, so as not offend your host at a dinner party: 12 here, 9 there, 21 over there-- that's the safe way to go.

All is fair in war, as long as you don't kill more than 50 people in the same place at the same time.

So what in hell's name went wrong in Qana?

1. Just part of the Measured Response.
I'm sure this won't make anyone in the Arab world decide to take up arms against Israel.

5. What is the acceptable ratio for civilian casualties then?
If we blow up 50 children, and kill 1 terrorist was it worth it?

How about a thousand? A million?

What is the number where it's not ok to kill children to "get the terrorists"?

6. The old "uses civilians as shields" ruse for blowing up civilians
Yeah, right. I really believe that one. How many times do the US and Israel get to play that tired old card before they are tried for war crimes???

10. Lebanese Govt & Hezbollah put forward 6 Point Cease Fire Plan and
Edited on Sun Jul-30-06 11:21 AM by KoKo01
the Hardliner Israeli's with their NeoCon cohorts wanted to put a stop to it before Condi got to Beirut.

The harliners seem to want Syria to be the Peace Broker not Lebanon with Hezbollah in their Government signing on to Peace.

So...they had to do some "collateral damage." Tom Friendman said that Syria should be the broker so that the Sunni's can be seen as working out an agreement with the Shia. Since Friendman speaks for for the NeoCons...I guess that's the way the plan is supposed to go.

 Either that, or they want the whole Middle East destablized and into war....and how does that benefit the Saudi's who fund James Baker who is the one that Friedman says can replace Condi?
