War Draft legislation I'd love to see
In a nutshell, if you are going to send our troops to war and you have no support from the UN and no support from the rest of the world (ie - you're providing more than 50% of the troops), then the draft is automatically enacted. And that draft would be the one that Charles Rangal has proposed where EVERYONE is drafted including rich kids and those who think college is their escape to get out of war. (and this would also include children & grandchildren of those people who are so willing to send other kids to war).

This war is filled with soldiers who used the military as an option when college was not affordable or feasible. And the least we could do is to ensure that we don't use them as a pawn by our goverment - first into battle and first to die.

Perhaps if we set such harsh standards for pre-emptive war and put ALL of our children on the line, not just the poor who thought the military would be a good option for a better future, then perhaps our folks in DC would think twice before sending us into war that no one else supports

1. I agree. Those in Congress who support this war should march their kids
right down to enlist. Now. And if they don't enlist, they should be drafted.

Let's see how many wars these fuckers want to support when it is THEIR children being sent off to die.

2. And then go to all the Young Republican clubs and enlist all of them
nothing saddens me more than to see some young kid out there pushing the Bush agenda and yet unwilling to actually do something about it like enlist.

3. Try this:If you're for war, your district will supply the conscript bodies
If a Rep. votes for war his or her district shall be tapped first for draftees. That district should be weighted more heavily in the draft and contribute a higher proportion of conscripts. And if the Senators of that Representative's state ALSO vote for war, then that district will be even MORE "represented" in the draft.
That should pretty well fix it so no Representative votes for war without realizing the knife he's put to his own throat.
