Qana = the shelling of the Sarajevo market : turning point of the war |
|
Remember the Bosnian war. The international community was divided, the UN unable to perform its tasks due to a limited mandate. The shelling in Sarajevo caused so much outrage that the British and the French dislogded the Serbian artillery from the surrounding hills. Now it won't be an intervention like that. But Israel has already lost the war. They had a window of about a week to finally crush the Hezbollah in South Lebanon after the retreat yesterday. Today they litterally "blew" it. More interventions of that type won't be tolerated, unless they launch a major ground offensive. The cease-fire that will now follow settles a "moral" and even military victory for the Hezbollah and shows that the air/land battle stategy à la Powell is completely counterproductive in conflicts of this type....

1. Israel doesn't care about morality or world opinion. |

True, Israel has lost the war. There stated war goals were unattainable, so they lost even before Qana.
That doesn't mean there will be a ceasefire anytime soon. Israel still has more damage to inflict on Lebanon.
