My Letter to Senator Schumer Re Lebanon
Dear Senator,

As a voter from NYC, a proud American and a friend of Israel, I am deeply saddened by your inability to condemn the Israeli government's indiscriminate and unacceptable use of force in Lebanon. Make no mistake, I levy the same criticism for the White House's deplorable and misguided approach to Iraq and the Middle East.

We desperately need a substantive leader to help illuminate a way out of this regional and domestic crisis. I urge you as one of your constituents, to be that leader.

If you truly believe that Israel and the US are justified in these actions without recourse to any criticism or scrutiny, I cannot in good faith ever support you. I am not alone in this belief.

2. I also wrote to Hillary
I don't know what to do, I am just so frustrated. I think that the world is waiting for the 2006 elections to see what the American People really think, but some of the Democratic Party's most prominent leaders are morally/politically compromised and refuse to take the proper stance on this issue.

If we have another 9/11 incident or if another country freaks out and does something unwise, then the neo-fascists will have another excuse to consolidate power behind renewed mob mentality nationalism.

Makes one feel hopeless.

3. I am praying Lamont wins the primary
Edited on Sun Jul-30-06 12:03 PM by MissWaverly
When the representatives from Lebanon are saying we have had enough, We also have had enough
of this shock and awe strategy that has gone on unchecked for the last 5 years at a tremendous
cost to the Iraqi people, the Lebanese people, the Afghani people and us. Indiscriminate
killing of civilians mostly children for a collective punishment rationale that this
brute force will build peace. Brute force does not build peace and only creates more violence.
I hope Lamont wins the primary in a landslide so that a message will be sent that the American
people reject the neocon plan, PNAC, and current US policy in the Middle East.

4. Good letter! I wish you would have mentioned Schumer's possible
support of Bolton, because he's a big part of the problem imo.

5. Good Point
I was intentionally trying to keep it brief. I fear that long letters lose impact value.
