A soldier under fire for his beliefs

His religious beliefs were challenged by an evangelical superior officer.....
This is an amazing story.
I am certain that he and I would disagree on pretty much everything related to religion, but he is a very brave citizen who believes in religious freedom and has an incredibly strong conscience.
People like him give me hope.

1. The commanding officer disputing Malloy sounds like a total jerk

For example:

Before the October hearing at Fort Sill, he (the officer) submitted a memo to Abrokwa that accused Malloy, “at best,” of attempting to “fraudulently hide behind an insincere belief to avoid going into a combat zone.”

And, at worst, committing "an act of sheer cowardice."

What the heck is the difference? There isn't one; they're the same accusation, just dressed in puffed-up rhetoric.
