Failure upon failure doesn't faze Bush administration
<snip>

IMAGINE a surgeon who is completely clueless, who has no idea what he or she is doing.

Imagine a pilot who is equally incompetent.

Now imagine a president.

The Middle East is in flames. Iraq has become a charnel house, a crucible of horror with no end to the agony in sight. Lebanon is in danger of going down for the count. And the crazies in Iran, empowered by the actions of their enemies, are salivating like vultures. They can't wait to feast on the remains of U.S. policies and tactics spawned by a sophomoric neoconservative fantasy — that democracy imposed at gunpoint in Iraq would spread peace and freedom, like the flowers of spring, throughout the Middle East.

If a Democratic president had pursued exactly the same policies, and achieved exactly the same tragic results as George W. Bush, that president would have been the target of a ferocious drive for impeachment by the GOP.

Bush spent a fair amount of time this week with the Iraqi prime minister, Nouri Kamal al-Maliki. There was plenty to talk about, nearly all of it hideous. Over the past couple of months Iraqi civilians have been getting blown away at the stunning rate of four or five an hour. Even Karl Rove had a tough time drawing a smiley face on that picture.

"Obviously the violence in Baghdad is still terrible," said Bush, "and therefore there needs to be more troops."

2. Exactly. "Failure" is in the eyes of the beholder.

Worldwide chaos and disorder are exactly what they had in mind.

3. No question about it.
That's the plan. I agree.

None of this is by accident. It's all intended.

4. You Forgot
A U.N. Ambassador who publicly called for the destruction of the U.N. and a Secretary of State who doesn't know the difference between a Cease-fire and a Peace Treaty (hint: Cease-fires are without pre-conditions & Peace Treaties are when each side gives things up to get things they really want.)

5. These are not failures, my Friend
All of these events are engineered. That is why I always think it is a mistake to label the Bush administration as incompetent. They know exactly what they are doing.

10. Bush isn't in office to run a country - but rather to run a country into
the ground - by using the country to gain personal power and personal profits

Of course he's a failure as a leader of a country...but then being an actual leader was never his goal

11.  They don't see their actions as failures
i wish they did but this is all success to them , it's all by their design and it's going quite well from their point of view . if it were 2008 and the voting machines were changed back to the old punch paper trail sort then they would be concerned to a point but then they have the media they own to keep pounding the hate .

13. They've been very successful at attaining their real goals.
They have managed to dismantled most of the safeguards of our Constitution and create fear and chaos to loot our money and finally install a dictatorship, a plan not yet accomplished but the foundations are being laid.

14. How about some credit for the author of this -- the great Bob Herbert!
This column appeared in the NYT last week.

16. Under whose qualifications do you think Bush judges his success/failure?
I mean, based on what we talk about he is a miserable failure.

But based on his fan base - he is a raging sucess.

And after 5+ years of Bush in the white house, I have come to the conclusion that he just doesn't care if we think he is a failure or not

19. I begin to wonder if
this isn't part of the larger plan to keep this administration in power. Just think, with all that has gone down so far, whats to keep them from declaring martial law and changing the laws so that they stay in power(all in the name of national security). The dems have proved themselves to be ball-less in stopping anything they have done. And the American people, many of them sheepal have not had a backbone in so long.....the majority would do nothing but shrug their shoulders and go back to watching AI.
