And it's all over now, Baby Blue....
our poet/songwriter nailed it yet again...I sit here and feel the pulse of the country and know-KNOW- that changes are in the wind..."Yonder stands your boyfriend with his gun...." It's all over but for the accounting and Democrats will do that for the next 40 years-not a giant like FDR but a series of men that though flawed know that real human rights ARE "inalienable" I have never been so certain or hopeful before...

1. Actually, it's "orphan", not "boyfriend".
not to be picky, or anything :hippie:

Than MORE poinant...an army of those orphaned from opportunity and sucess-left to fight and kill or to wander the tracts of the US that companies have abandoned.....I like the simile...

I mean, it's not nearly as ridiculous as hearing There's a bad moon on the rise as "There's a bathroom on the right"

Otherwise known as "Mondegreens"

(edit: fixed. I really did know that it was rise, not right. Typo. I swear!)

9. I think it's "bad moon on the rise"...
but anyway, thanks for the Dylan inspired optimism that started this thread.

2. Subterranean Homesick Blues
totally sums it up

"Don't follow leaders
Watch your parking meters"

"Look out kid, you're gonna get hit
Don't know what you're doin', but you're doin it again"

"The pump don't work
cause the vandals took the handles"

10. dylan's lyrics are timeless
"You must leave now, take what you need, you think will last
But whatever you wish to keep, you better grab it fast
Yonder stands your orphan with his gun
He's crying like a fire in the sun
Look out, all the saints are coming through
And it's all over now, Baby Blue"

11. Actually, I'll go with "Maggie's Farm"
I ain't gonna work for Maggie's pa no more.
No, I ain't gonna work for Maggie's pa no more.
Well, he puts his cigar
Out in your face just for kicks.
His bedroom window
It is made out of bricks.
The National Guard stands around his door.
Ah, I ain't gonna work for Maggie's pa no more.

I ain't gonna work for Maggie's ma no more.
No, I ain't gonna work for Maggie's ma no more.
Well, she talks to all the servants
About man and God and law.
Everybody says
She's the brains behind pa.
She's sixty-eight, but she says she's twenty-four.
I ain't gonna work for Maggie's ma no more.

13. Freepers are like 'Pawns in their Game"
from the dylan song by the same name

"The deputy sheriffs, the soldiers, the governors get paid,
And the marshals and cops get the same,
But the poor white man's used in the hands of them all like a tool.
He's taught in his school
From the start by the rule
That the laws are with him
To protect his white skin
To keep up his hate
So he never thinks straight
'Bout the shape that he's in
But it ain't him to blame
He's only a pawn in their game."
