Did the Beirut march in April allow Israel to callously kill children?
I came across a story:

http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/CB987629-F0CC-4160-A2DF-4E1ABC16C715.htm

"About 2,000 children have marched through the streets of Beirut armed with fake rockets in a rally organized by Hezbollah to mark the anniversary of a deadly Israeli bombardment 10 years ago.

Rows of boys wearing military fatigues and red berets marched with mock Katyushas on their shoulders on Thursday in memory of the Israeli bombing of a UN base in Qana in southern Lebanon on April 18, 1996, that killed 105 people.

This was back in April.

I can't help but think this may have hardened Israel's heart and may explain how it is they they can ignore the deaths of kids.

It's no excuse, of course.

1. I don't think the warmakers on all sides have ever cared much for kids...
maybe the kids on their own side, but certainly not the foreigners on the other side's.

2. I don't think they even care about the kids on their side.
I mean, these kids are getting used. They're being used as tools.

All the humanitarian aid Hezbollah has given seems like nothing more than a means to create more soldiers.

3. They probably see that as right and just in their struggle
like people tend to do when they get that much into a war.

4. Israel spent the month of April...
...raining shells down on Gaza. I think their hearts were hardened long before this parade in Beirut.

Gaza under intense bombardment

"Since the start of April, Israeli forces say they have fired more than 2,000 artillery shells into the northern Gaza Strip.

I was in Beit Lahiya a few days ago just after the latest accident.

An artillery round had crashed through the roof of a house.

Israel said Palestinian militants had fired a rocket from the area two hours earlier. Its artillery had struck back.

One boy wept as he told me the rocket had injured members of his extended family.

"About 10 were injured", he said.

Has anyone died, I asked.

"A girl, about eight years old."

The round killed eight-year-old Hadil Ghaben - and injured her brothers and sisters."
