"These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me."
"They worship in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men." Matthew 15:8-9 NIV

That was our message for the day.

2. All too true. The Reich Wing uses the name of God to 'justify' their
evil deeds.

They are idolators.
Their gods are money and power and control.
They claim to value life while sending other people's children to their deaths.
They are all talk and no walk.

And still there are sheeple who believe in their hollow words and superficial sound-bite theology.

How very sad.

3. I like this one. Sort of ancillary to the one today:
Proverbs 22:1-16

Choose a good reputation over great riches, for being held in high esteem is better than silver or gold.
The rich and the poor have this in common: The Lord made them both.
A prudent person foresees the danger ahead and takes precautions; the simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.
True humility and love of the Lord lead to riches, honor and long life.
The deceitful walk a thorny, treacherous road; whoever values life will stay away.
Teach your children to choose the right path, and when they are older, they will remain upon it.
Just as the rich rule the poor, so the borrower is servant to the lender.
Those who plant seeds of injustice will harvest disaster, and their reign of terror will end.
Blessed are those who are generous, because they feed the poor.
Throw out the mocker, and fighting, quarrels, and insults will disappear.
Anyone who loves a pure heart and gracious speech is the king's friend.

and my favorite: A person who gets ahead by oppressing the poor or by showering gifts on the rich will end in poverty.
