ThinkProgress: "No Good Military Options in Iran"
ThinkProgress has a hefty sampling of what all the smart people are saying about our chances of even trying to go into Iran in the present situation. In a nutshell, it's "no dice."

To a person they all look at the hard options in Iran and conclude it just ain't gonna happen.

1. Agreed
There are no good options either military or non military in this one. Sanctions will merely dry up the oil they export. The only real option is the slowest one which is diplomacy and supporting internal change.

2. The smart people aren't in charge
Iran has been an objective from the beginning. They want to break Iran as the last remaining sovereign power in the region. Chaos and destruction is okay with the civilians running the Pentagon.
