Qana attack, Israeli setback?
Edited on Mon Jul-31-06 08:39 AM by eyl
This CNN video is noteworthy because it includes footage of Hizbullah rockets firing from Lebenese villages (including Kfar Qana) and hiding within them - contrary to claims that Hizbullah avoids civilians made by Juan Cole and Mitch Prothero.

Video is accessible from this page; click on the "Israel says Hezbollah shares blame for Qana" link on the right.

1. You're reading that 10 times too narrowly.
Just because you fire from a populated area doesn't mean that after you fire rockets that you go hiding in the basement of the nearest orphanage waiting for satellite guided bombs to strike it and the kids and women above you. I remember the claims of Somali gunmen hiding behind women and children in the streets of Somalia during the incident upon which "Black Hawk Down" was based. I remember thinking that if you're already under attack everywhere, it's not hard at all to imagine you saw a gunman with a submachinegun and to shoot into a crowd whether or not that is actually the case, even. But that is real hiding behind civilians. "Forcing" Israelis to systematically destroy every building in an 80 building village may also be construed by people like you as hiding WITHIN civilians but, that doesn't mean that the actual buildings they move to after firing are populated by civilians (like "Hez wives and Hez kids"). Maybe some people want to interpret what Juan and Mitch said as meaning that Hezbollah never fires a rocket inside town limits but, I've read what both said and that seems, to me, a far overly broad reading of what they actually wrote. (And by the way Juan was responding to the other's writing.)

Having said that, if Hezbollah is indeed baiting the IAF into committing massacres, well, it's doing a pretty good job, isn't it?

2. the Video DOES NOT SHOW THE Qana Incidents. Not at all.
Edited on Mon Jul-31-06 08:55 AM by DistressedAmerican
All of the released video was from days earlier and various locations. The video is pure propoganda.

When they can produce the video of the strike showing the launcher in the vicinity, I'll be happy to look at it. So far they have released no such thing. Just BS propoganda from other attacks that had nothing to do with Qana. Do not be duped by these fucking lies.

Do you have some evidence that there was actually a target near the buliding when it was struck?

4. The middle part of the footage is from Qana
regardless, there are voices claiming Hizbullah is not firing from villages; this footage proves them wrong.

Qana attack. Has anyone besides the IDF or the Israeli government verified those films? I haven't believed anything Israel's said since they said they found receipts for weapons shipments in Arafat's office.
