At least they've been too busy to inflame Latin America this time
Edited on Mon Jul-31-06 09:18 AM by Armstead
Now that the Neo-Con Hawks have managed to inflame the Middle East over the last six years, it's tempting to sink into a morass of despair.

But maybe there's a bright side. At least they've been so busy mucking up that part of the world that they haven't been able to turn their full attention to "improving" the situation in Latin America.

Remember the Reagan/Bush 1 years, when they were devoting so much time and resources to supporting right-wing "freedom fighter" thugs and stirring up endless civil wars with Commie Terrorists?

Most likely, with their return to power under Bush 2, they'd like to be be carrying on that campaign, and fomenting civil wars against those democratically elected socialist terrorists that have emerged in Latin America. If they had their way, Latin America would probably be a giant conflagration.

However, the Neo-Cons have been so preoccupied with the Middle East, they've had to be content with token gestures, like trying to undermine elective democracy in Venezuala. They haven't been able to find convenient excuses to invade our neighbors to the south, or otherwise totally screw up the political/social/military mix there to spread their brand of "capitalistic democracy" through violence.

Maybe I'm grasping at straws to find silver linings. But I shudder to think what they'd be up to in our Hemisphere if they didn't have their hands so full in the Middle East.

2. You know... In some ways this whole mess may work out ok
in the end.. My point:

The Middle East policies/Wars is not going to work out for * and his cabal.. Eventyually, we are probably going to give up over there....

In the meantime Latin America has integrated and are getting their act together.
So when the US finally turns to them... they will probably be able to resist and counter US violence and aggression/tricks.

3. Let's hope the Neo-Con cabal doesn't even get that chance
Hopefully, the neo-cons will be replaced by a more sane and sensible set of leaders before they have a chance to turn to Latin America in a big way.
