Afghanistan's Karzai condemns Israeli blitz

KABUL, July 31 (KUNA) -- Condemning the massacre of some 57 civilians, including children and women, by Israeli forces during air strike on a building in Qana of the southern Lebanon, Afghan President Hamid Karzai has urged upon the international community to intervene.

In a statement released from the Presidential Palace on Monday, the Afghan leader said his country was concerned over the fighting and civilian casualties, which must be stopped.

He expressed sympathy with the people and government of Lebanon on behalf of the people and government of Afghanistan. He called for immediate ceasefire in Lebanon.
