"Satchmo Fest" in the Big Easy"
Starts Thursday and runs through Sunday. A musical tribute to Louie Armstrong at and around the Old Mint on Esplanade. Lots of outstanding food and booze and a good time to be had by all right on the cusp of the French Quarter. Its a sentimental weekend for my wife and me. We went to Satchmo fest last year and that was the last time we were in New Orleans prior to the Hurricane.

Then on Labor Day weekend, the gay community will hold Southern Decadence which is a raucous good time regardless of your sexual orientation. I do believe the tight assed religiously insane secretly long for the opportunity to attend.

2. Hate to tempt you like this teammate
But check out:

and order you up some. I do love Cafe Au lait, especially at 2 in the morning with St Louis Cathedral across Decatur Street eerily lit. I make it at home but it never tastes as good as in the Quarter.

3. My word
I thought you could get CC anywhere. Just goes to show you how ingrained the cajun culture is in this 25 year resident. Mellow Joy is giving Community a run for its money in Lafayette. It's very good.

6. Friends sent me care packages
of Community after I moved from Lafayette to San Antonio. Now it's in all the stores here! Be patient; maybe it'll get to your area too!

10. We'll be down for
Satchmo fest for sure. Also we'll stroll the Farmer's Market and the Quarter. I enjoy Decadence but I'm an old fart and my time in the Quarter now is limited to the daytime since we have a 50 mile drive home.
