United Airlines returns to profit (BBC)
The parent company of United Airlines, UAL Corporation, has unveiled its first quarterly profit in six years.

Helped by increased revenues and ongoing cost-cutting, in the three months to the end of June the firm made a net profit of $119m (£64m).

This compares with a loss of $1.4bn for the same period in 2005.

UAL, which emerged from Chapter 11 US bankruptcy protection in February, saw revenues grow to $5.11bn from $4.42bn a year ago.

1. Dump your pension plan, make your employees work for peanuts...
and you too can make a profit.

2. "cost-cutting" a fancy financial term for "screwing the employees blind"..
...Funny how the execs got to keep their pensions and the employees got fucked....

3. I know first hand...
Too much time invested to go somewhere else now, though.

5. Frontline did a piece about UA and a few other companies recently...
..that screwed their employees as the management protected their own asses....I hope there's an especially hot place in hell for these corporate pigs that reward years and years of an employee's hard work with nothing but a hearty 'fuck you' as they drive the company into the ground...
