I noticed today that Yahoo news was running a piece from the AP about the victims of Saddam's brutality, and all day the pages listing articles had a picture of Jill next to the Saddam article. I was perplexed. Were they capitalizing on the empathy felt for Jill, hoping to translate it into hatred for Hussein, and thereby hoping to harden hearts against any critique of Bush's manufacture of consent (manufacture of passivity) for his illegal and immoral invasion?

It struck me as a moment of high exploitation. Why would any editor make a decision to run Jill's picture against that article? Seems obvious to me. What sad times we live in.
