Thanks guys for all the info on the aortic aneurysm |
|
I've learned quite a bit from all of your responses. I'm gonna take it easy and look for a second opinion.

1. My sister had one a few years ago. Luckily, it was a small one |

on a blood vessel. The doctor said if it had been another inch either way, it could have killed her.
She is fine now with no problems.

2. Good for you. Keep us posted on any progress, would you? |

I don't know you, but anyone who runs a blog at age 82 and is so involved in American Indian rights and affairs deserves my utmost respect and admiration.
I do wish you well.

7. I've read it. And I am impressed by your anti-casino stand. |
|
I agree with you that the casinos have not been a positive thing for the majority of Indians. I thought I was the only one who felt that way, so it was good to read your blog.
Go in peace and happiness each day.

6. I Didn't Get Your Earlier Post, But My Mom Had An AA & Dangerous Surgery |
|
Her aorta was more than 2 times as wide as it was supposed to be, and she needed a new valve. Her aneurysm was thoacic (sp?), not abdominal, and that is more rare. Mom was 62 at the time. The surgery had a 15-16% mortality rate, compared to a bypass, which has a 2-4% mortality rate. After surgery, her surgeon came and talked to us, and said she also had a vegetation on her valve, so there were 3 things that were worked on: new aorta, new valve (mechanical), and dealing with this "vegetation". It was so damn scary. Anyway, AFTER the surgery, he told us she was lucky to suvive till the surgery. Scary stuff, let me tell you. She is doing well now, 4 years later. I am so thankful. I love her so much. Please keep us updated on your situation. Medicine these days is amazing.
