Since the media is not covering it much, I thought I would share a couple of nice pictures...courtesy Renee in Ohio, who got to go. Tim was there and will be posting more as well.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean outlined a national ethics reform package Wednesday that would prohibit lawmakers from accepting most gifts from lobbyists, saying Democrats must be the agent of change to end state and federal corruption scandals.

Dean called Ohio the center of Republican corruption scandals, including the federal investigation of GOP Rep. Bob Ney over accusations that he took bribes from Washington lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

More than two dozen Democratic members of the Ohio House and Senate joined with Dean to sign the national petition to Congress to restore honest leadership to government, which coincides with unveiling of Democrats' reform package on Capitol Hill.

"The cost of corruption is real to Ohioans, and it's real to Americans, and we're going to put an end to that," said Dean, standing just a few feet away from the ceremonial Statehouse office of Gov. Bob Taft.

Another podium view.

And Paul Hackett talking to someone, maybe Redfern, the Democratic chair, I think. At least I think that is who that is. Not sure.

2. It's nice to see him go to Ohio
The Democratic Party in Ohio has been all but dead and it's nice to see all those good folks show up and attempt to rebuild it.

Nice job Mr. Chairman!

4. So much media, so little coverage...picture.
This was all the media hanging around after the event. You would have thought there would be more coverage

5. Why do they even bother to show up?
What a waste of time, gas and film. To go through all that and then we see NOTHING. Morons.

6. Riight you are. And why even bother to stand up and fight...
because no one seems to really care. All we do here is bash them, and let the media turn us against each other.

7. Well, I care and I for one thank you for the story and pictures
There is no fight too small these days - and Ohio is far from a small battle. It's extremely important and already rigged against us. The lack of media coverage highlights that. It'll be hard, but we will prevail as the truth about corruption in that state emerges. Every skirmish, every word, every action counts. Ney's immediate future in the courts will help in no small way, too. Justice can be sweet.

Thanks, again, for the update. I've been looking forward to Dean's speech today. It's been one great week. Gore, Kerry, Reid, Dean,.... What a wonderful week! :patriot:

8. Thanks, I just happened on Tucker Carlson's show...
and it just blew my mind. I feel so discouraged. He had that Andrew Jones on about paying students to turn in their liberal professors. Jones was so proud of himself, and Tucker patted him on the back for it.

I was just sick. I see CNN turning hard right, and I see the same on MSNBC. I surfed for a moment, and it was shocking.

Guess that is why I sounded so glum. I do feel glum today, and that did not help. Tucker praised that idiot.

9.  Seeing Dean still leading the charge does my heart good.
Thanks, madfloridian. And to hell with CNN and MSNBC and Tucker "desperate for ratings" Carlson. :)

13. And a write-up about his Columbus Democracy Bond meeting.
http://howardempowered.blogspot.com/2006/01/howard-deans-speech-to-democracy-bond.html

A lot of info here about things the DNC has for goals now.

One paragraph:

"We started off first with the state partnership program. We are paying for staffers in every single state, and we have them in every single state now, and they're on the DNC payroll, but they're picked by the local parties, we train them. And their obligation is, one, they've got to sign on for four years. We want the *party* to be strong. We don't want these folks to get good and then go off and work for a governor or a senator. Two, they have to be diverse. They have to look like the people whose vote we're asking for. The state parties haven't been so good about that always. In Texas for example, they have one state organizer in the whole state party who's Hispanic, in a state which is 40% Hispanic. Three, we train them. They come to Washington, usually for two to three days, and we'll continue to do that. So, everybody knows what the techniques are around the country. And four, there has to be a Democratic organization in every precinct in the state, in every precinct in America."
