I drive an 06 Civic which gets around 35 mpg, but the minute I land another job I am going back to taking the bus. (my last job was a contract job that required the use of my personal vehicle)

Denver, the RW nutjobs have agreed to compromise on our future constitutional ballot measure that would give gays rights for civil union but not marriage...Does that mean our gas prices are going up or down?:sarcasm:

24. It's gone up.......
and appears to be going up as we speak, practically.

I am one of those folks who lives in downtown Toronto; for those places too far away to walk, there is transit, thank you. Owning a car here is prohibitively expensive; I can think of a lot of things to do with the approximately $800 to $1,000 per month that I would spend if I owned a vehicle.

26. it's gone up since * Admin in power - coincidence I guess
It did go crazy after Katrina...and then back down to low .80's
..I remember last year when that was an OBSCENE price...now it's
suppose to keep us happy if it goes down. I remember just a few years
ago looking in the .50's and .60's and thinking in the .60's was a rip-off.

I also remember after the first gulf war..that's when gas prices took a leap,
and we never saw them come back down after the war ended...pre gulf war,
gas prices in the mid to high .40's...post gulf war .50's and .60's became
the new norm. Infuriating.

I have a mini-van..costs about $60ish to fill. I drive only when necessary..which
with kids can be quite a bit.

28. Ooo... math.
Bit harder to calculate than I thought, actually. At worst, $1.50 per liter. But you guys go by gallons, don't you? That'd make it $5.7, if I'm using the right gallon and assuming 10.00 Norwegian Kroner = $1.50.

However, 65% of that is tax, which we get back in neat stuff like free health care and school and roads and other nice expensive things. Seen like that, we're wobbling a bit between $1.50-2.00.

And thank you for going to the trouble of doing all that math for those of us not on the metric system!!

P.S. Love that remark about free health care. Yeah, that'd be a good thing.

P.P.S. Fjords rock! Must be nice to live amongst all that beauty. (Hope we don't melt them any time soon.)

36. Went from $2.29 (regular)
yesterday morning to $2.45 yesterday afternoon when going home. I'll check things out on the way to work and see if they've gone further.

Isn't this the highest it's been? Or was it in the $70 range with Katrina? My memory isn't so good.
