Is anyone else in the Dallas area having cell phone trouble with AT&T? |
|
Edited on Thu Jan-19-06 01:17 AM by ...of J.Temperance
I've also posted this in the Texas Forum, but I thought I'd post it in GD as well.
Is anyone else in the Dallas area having cell phone trouble with AT&T?
What I mean is, are people phoning you and not being able to get through to speak to you and your cell phone is automatically going onto voicemail? And has this cell phone trouble been happening since the weekend?
Any responses to my question are greatly appreciated, thanks.
On Edit: GD Moderators could you please leave this thread here in GD...although I've also posted in the Texas Forum, I think that more people might read this in GD somehow. Thanks :)

1. You might need to get Cingular to reprogram it. |
|
We did that and it helped a lot. But our contract is up soon, and we will buy another phone...not sure who will go with.
There are Cingular stores around, go there, and they do something to the phone to get you by.

2. AT&T (now Cingular) is notorious for this problem |
|
Happens to me several times a week. They are also known for the voice mail message that takes days to get to you. It just might be your turn to experience it.
Sorry you are having trouble.

3. I'm not having trouble...I just wanted to see if someone was on the |
|
Level with me...unfortunately since the weekend I've started to have doubts about their reliability, doubts that hadn't existed previously.
Are you actually in Dallas? Have you yourself been experiencing this automatically going onto voicemail since the weekend?

5. I think it is old AT&T phones that are not programmed to Cingular. |
|
But I could be wrong. They recommend we get a new phone when our contract is up. I hear they are pretty good in this area, but our kids have T-Mobile and like it.

Monday and that they were having the same going onto automatic voicemail as they were.
I don't know...I don't know what to believe anymore.
They've always been reliable before...but since the weekend this person has started to really let me down on things that they know are important to me.
Of course I'd like if Dallas area people would respond in this thread and tell me that loads of people in Dallas are having this same cell phone trouble...but maybe I just need to face reality now.
On Edit: Dammit spelling error.

10. Have you tried to text message them when you get the voice mail? |
|
http://www.cingularme.com/do/public?l=en-US&v=cingularYou can send it right from the web and there is not usually a lag on those either.

8. The old AT&T phones should work just fine on Cingulars networks |
|
They are both TDMA based systems, using the same technology as the other, even before they merged. Both their Analog and GSM networks are compatible. That is why no one had to obtain a new phone when they merged either.
Perhaps there is an issue with the phone itself. There could be a bug in the software of that particular phone, making it unreachable more than it should be. They should have the phone check and replaced if the problem continues (while it is still under factory warranty).

I am south of Boston and have experienced this problem for years myself, personally. To top it off, I used to sell AT&T cell phones and heard the complaint more times than you could imagine.
This person, that you speak of, might very well be experiencing the problem.
It really ticks me off when it happens and it's my kids trying to reach me. Or vice versa.

12. Was the person calling you talking about al-Qaeda (or, maybe, just |
|
about protesting against the Bush administration) right before the phones got "screwed up"? Hmmmmmm?
