Freeper on peer review: Priceless
You can't make this stuff up, but freepers do it for you. Really, the best threads over there are the endless evo/creo threads. There are many scientists/science savvy types over there battling the creos. (I've actually learned a lot about the subject) This remark left me speechless.

And you trust the PEERS? I'm glad America moved beyond the peerage. I don't need barons and squires and such--

Fraud is rife in scientific academia. The stakes are high--prestige, money, status, money, careers, money, tenure, money. A scientist is just as likely as anyone else to fall to tempation.

I think I'll keep this article in the "entertainment" category. Such speculation is fun--but only a fool would take it all that seriously.

2. The 'crevo' threads are always fun.

they show the true face of the American conservative. Fundamentalists, extremists and militantly ignorant. They are working hard to continue to dumb down the American people.

"The only truly new ideas (the right) has come up with
in the last twenty years are:

(1) supply side economics, which is a way of redistributing
the wealth upward toward those who already have more than
they know what to do with, and;

(2) creationism, which is a parallel idea for redistributing
ignorance out from its fundamentalist strongholds to those
who know more than they need to.

If THIS is the level of debate that the world is sinking to we are all DOOMED.

4. Yeah, the level of debate is
amazingly low on the crevo side, but it's correspondingly high on the evo side. Not only that, but many of the evo posters are very funny.

5. It sounds like their "peers" are monkeys and apes
Obviously they have not evolved.

6. Peers Are Barons & Squires And Such?
I'm pretty sure the person that wrote this doesn't understand what a peer is! Peers aren't superiors! They're PEERS!
