Walmart TV, Digital?
Didn't have the smarts to write down the model number but is anyone familiar with the 23" TV for sale now at Walmart for $98.00? I know we all dislike the store but I saved money on a Shop-Vac last week and on my way out I saw the TV display. In view of the fact that our TV's will be obsolete soon, whether they work or not, we may need to buy a new one. Nowhere on the carton did it say that the TV was digital. Is this price just a good way to get rid of old stock? If it is not digital, people should be warned about the short usability of this product. If it is digital, I think I may buy one. I will not rent a converter to change my current tv to accept digital. I pay the cable company enough per month for coverage. They do not need an excuse to charge me more. Shouldn't it be on the box? It definitely was not, we turned it all around and over. No info and of course, no knowledgeable clerk to help us. Typical.

1. If you have cable or satellite it won't matter
And even if you don't the government will partially subsidize a converter box for the switch.

2. Have Cable, but do not want another "box".
Have far too many gozmo's and do-hickies under the TV now. Still can't learn to properly use the remote that came with the new DVD/VCR player we were gifted with at Christmas. We are of the old school. Simpler is better.

3. Old school rules!
I had so much shit hooked up to my TV that we didn't know what went where and it didn't all work half the time. I told Comcast to take back their digital POS and now we just have a DVD player and the TV. So much easier to deal with :hi:

4. Not digital. Just a CRT-based analog TV, and nothing more
Wally World's cheapest true HDTVs start at about $600, and their cheapest digital (NOT high-def, but EDTV - just capable of displaying a digital signal) is probably the RCA 27F634T, which will retail for about $350. It does have a built-in digital tuner so it can display high-def signals, but only in standard resolution (it should be available this spring or summer).

5. spend $1 more and get a 20" Magnavox at Best Buy--on sale now
who's this "we" who dislikes MallWart? You think you "saved money" on a Shop Vac there and now you're thinking of buying a TV from them. Don't say "we" when you mean "you" (as in "I know you all dislike the store"). I haven't spent a dime at WM since about 2001 and their cheap-ass crap doesn't impress me in the slightest.

6. If you think giving money directly
to Republicans and their causes is a good thing, then by all means shop at Walmart. Which is exactly what you are doing when you shop their.

Even if you directly donated the money saved to Democratic or progressive causes, you've already done the damage, so please re-think your shopping habits.

7. You should know
that the end result of Wally World's negotiations with many of their suppliers is that products are often modified to be sold at lower cost through Wally World. This usually means that the products are of lower quality than other manufactured by the same supplier and sold through other distribution channels. If I remember correctly there is a well documented case study involving bicycles that is used in many MBA programs.
