I see we're holding hearings on controling porn on TV AGAIN this AM. |
|
It's on cspan1 now, and Sen. Stevens is chairing the hearing. WHO decids which programs are "family friendly"?
I heard Jack Valenti say that every television that receives a cable broadcast has the ability to restrict any program or chanel they wish TODAY! We don't have to wait for legislation or cable companies to do something. "We have arranged for broadcasters to make announcements over and over, every day, explaining to parents how to set their TV to only receive the programs they WANT. They have agreed to do this for a period of 18 months." "We've also arranged with manufacturers as well as retailers of TV's to include CLEAR instructions on how to set up the V Chip." "There is also an agreement that the show's rating will not only be broadcast at the beginning of the show, but at varying times throught it's airing."
So, tell me, who sets these ratings? Who decides that a show is G and not PG. I'd bet if you asked parents in 10 different households to rate a program or movie, you'd get at least 5 different answers! You might even get 10!

1. GOP - party of less government my ass! |
|
Don't want your kids exposed to porn? Be a PARENT! Use the tools already there for you. If you need technical help, hire some kid to show you how to work the TV.
America has some REAL problems to address, Sen. Stevens. Get up and announce that the Senate has better things to do!

3. Did you hear one Sen complaining about what's aired on the NEWS? |
|
He specifically pointed out how insane he thought it was that he had to hear about Aruba for WEEKS! He laughed and said, "Well I finally found out where Aruba is!"

4. Have to admit, I found the Aruba story tedious and over done myself! |
|
There were some other things going on which affected more than the grieving parents of the missing white female.

6. So did I, but I don't think they can demand CNN, MSNBC etc to |
|
change the stories they decide to cover, just because they or we are tired listening! That should be transmitted to those networks via RATINGS! If nobody watches all this fluff, eventually, they'll get the message!

8. Listen to them. They're talking about Desperate Housewives, |
|
and shows that portray violence etc. They're talking about "Shows that SOME people find offensive!" They want a special way for "parents to protect their children!"
