1. I have issues with that also...... |
|
I have been accelerating slower recently, driving very conservatively and taking all the shortcuts I can. I see others, however, who gun it between lights and drive way over the speed limits. I believe most just like to complain but wont back their words up with actions.

4. Yes...100 yards ahead a red light...why go 45 and stop..If I am starting |
|
from the LAST red light..I prefer to go slowly so maybe I do not even have to put on my break..but can accelerate from 25 to 45..some pass me..and have to come to a complete stop..then zoom to get to the same speed from zero...

9. I've been doing that since the energy crisis of early 70's |
|
this is not a new thing and am surprised by the lack of knowledge by so many here.

2. Fewer cars, more room to speed up |
|
I swear everyone is going 10-15 mph over the speed limit. It's a bit disconcerting to be bicycling on the city streets and having an SUV roar by at 45 MPH. What clods.

3. People don't really care about gas prices. |
|
Obviously, some people do, especially people who drive trucks and otherwise see their income directly cut into by high gas prices. But if people REALLY cared, they'd drive less and abandon the SUVs, and I don't see that happening.
People buy gas with CREDIT CARDS, and clearly, people don't mind running up a shitload of debt on them.
In the last few years, maybe because of cc's, it seems people don't even look at prices anymore.

7. I drive 60 mph on the interstate... |
|
98% of the vehicles fly by me at at least 70+ mph...I just sigh and wonder why. I drive a 4cyl car, a lot of large vehicles on the road...trucks...people are still out in force on their ATVs and speeding with them! 2 people this week killed in ATV accidents, speeding was a factor.

8. Start paying truck drivers by the hour instead of the mile, and you'll |
|
see millions of gallons of fuel saved every day of the week!
Give them day cabs without sleepers to drive. Motels will be full and trucks idling all night on exit ramps, in rest areas and truck stops will be a thing of the past!

10. And what did I read recently, TX raising some limits to 80mph |
|
on selected stretches of freeways.
Anybody have the stats on how many bbl of oil a day would not be used if the maximum speed limit was set at 65mph?
