China, Hungary sends humanitarian materials to Lebanon

BEIJING, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese government is to send urgently needed emergency materials to Lebanon to ease the humanitarian crisis brought about by the conflict between Israel and the Hezbollah, the Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday.

The materials, including small electricity generators, tents, blankets, sanitation equipment, drugs and other materials, will be sent to Lebanon in two batches on Thursday and Friday.

The materials will be first flown to Jordan's capital Amman, and then to the Beirut international airport, said the ministry. Enditem

Hungary sends humanitarian aid to Lebanon

Hungary is to deliver humanitarian aid worth 6 million forints (about 28,600 U.S. dollars) to Lebanon.

"The aid consists of basic food stuffs, baby food and supplements,medicine and primary care materials needed by doctors, " Hungarian foreign ministry spokesman Viktor Polgar said.

The aid was sent at the request of Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora. In a letter to Hungarian Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany, Siniora also informed Gyurcsany of the latest developments in the Middle East, Polgar said.

The Lebanese government had also requested international aid of tents, electricity generators, water purifying equipment and fire-fighting equipment, Polgar added.

1. Just saw on CBS news that the last surviving highway was bombed.
Bridge taken out. An aid convoy that was scheduled make deliveries had to cancel.

cnn is reporting that aid convoys are being turned away from Beirut because the last road in was bombed last night.

3. Aid cannot get through because Israel bombed the bridges
and roads to all population centers. Per MSNBC and CNN.
