Huh? Are they forgetting about the video tape released the weekend before the elections of 2004 or are they being tricky with "Audio" versus just saying the last time OBL released a statement?

Do they think we forgot the oh so nicely timed (for Bush) OBL tape?

It has been more than a year since the last confirmed message from bin Laden — the longest period without a video or audiotape from the al-Qaida leader. The last audiotape purported to be from bin Laden was broadcast in December 2004 by Al-Jazeera. In that recording, he endorsed Abu-Musab al-Zarqawi as his deputy in Iraq and called for a boycott of Iraqi elections.

If Osama is not still on the CIA payroll, and is really devising terror schemes, it makes sense that it would take a while. I mean, the first terror attack at the WTC happened in 1994;it took seven years for them to decide on another way to attack. Of course, I think Clinton's vigilance and his prosecution of the first group of terrorists helped stymie bin Laden for years.

My real concern is that Bush has done such a lousy job with Homeland Security that we'll be hit again with even more casualties. And Bush's response will be to declare martial law and shut down all dissent. In fact, that is even more likely if bin Laden is, indeed, really paid by the CIA.
