Contrary to BushCo, Bin Laden claims that he watches the US polls...

Bin Laden offers Americans truce

<snip>

"It was not my intention to talk to you about this, because those wars are definitely going our way.

"But what triggered my desire to talk to you is the continuous deliberate misinformation given by your President (George) Bush, when it comes to polls made in your home country which reveal that the majority of your people are willing to withdraw US forces from Iraq.

"We know that the majority of your people want this war to end and polls show the Americans don't want to fight the Muslims on Muslim land, nor do they want Muslims to fight them on their (US) land.

"But Bush does not want this and claims that it's better to fight his enemies on their land rather than on American land.

"Bush tried to ignore the polls that demanded that he end the war in Iraq.

...

"In response to the substance of the polls in the US, which indicate that Americans do not want to fight Muslims on Muslim land, nor do they want Muslims to fight them on their land, we do not mind offering a long-term truce based on just conditions that we will stick to.

7. I respectfully disagree.
I do not think this helps Bush in any significant way.

Don't know if it helps him or not and didn't say one way or the other....but we do hear from OBL at odd times. And I always find the "message" curiously supportive of a Bush talking point.

Of course OBL could be keeping up with the American headlines and opted to respond to what he has read in papers and on internet blogs. Keeping his finger on the pulse of America, as it were.

But Bush can say Bin Laden calls it yellow but I say it's red....and then a tape comes out where Bin Laden claims it is yellow. So maybe he just follows Bush's talking points and fits his tapes around that.

But I have no clue as to whether it helps Bush or not....but I do find it interesting.

11. I'm on the bubble on this one too...
looking @ the "transcript", some of the points do align with BushCo propaganda, though others are the direct opposite. However, one thing I do believe, there are no coincidences with BushCo...

2. I'm not surprised. OBL has better polling than Bush.
Part of the proof of the depth the US has sunk is that Bush can't out-PR a murderous invisible OBL.

4. I see a pattern. Bush does whatever Bin Laden says he'll do,
and Bin Laden does whatever Bush says he won't do.

12. This is ridiculous propaganda

He's offering a truce to the American people? Who thinks this shit up? The American people can't negotiate a truce. I'm sure if OBL is alive and kicking, he would hardly waste his time babbling about nonesense.

This tripe (written and playwrited by whom) is so juvenile, that it truly reflects the disdain that they hold for the average American's intelligence. Unfortunately I think they are right. I think the writer is channeling George Orwell - wish they would modernize it a little, it's so insulting.

13. IOW, if you answer a poll that reflects badly on the president or his
administration, you are giving aid and comfort to not just "the enemy" but to Bin Laden himself.

In the words of AG Ashcroft, we have to be careful what we say.
