Remember Wes Clark's five year war plan allegation (included Lebanon)?
Edited on Sat Aug-05-06 01:04 AM by JackNewtown
Excerpt from the article:

--According to General Wesley Clark--the Pentagon, by late 2001, was Planning to Attack Lebanon

"Winning Modern Wars" (page 130) General Clark states the following:

"As I went back through the Pentagon in November 2001, one of the senior military staff officers had time for a chat. Yes, we were still on track for going against Iraq, he said. But there was more. This was being discussed as part of a five-year campaign plan, he said, and there were a total of seven countries, beginning with Iraq, then Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Iran, Somalia and Sudan.

...He said it with reproach--with disbelief, almost--at the breadth of the vision. I moved the conversation away, for this was not something I wanted to hear. And it was not something I wanted to see moving forward, either. ...I left the Pentagon that afternoon deeply concerned."

Of course, this is fully consistent with the US Neocons' master plan, "Rebuilding America's Defenses," published in August 2000 by the Project for the New American Century (PNAC)--

Iraq has already been "taken care of", Libya is no longer an issue due to its conversion, Syria and Iran are on "the list", but the most interesting part is Lebanon. Is Israel doing PNAC's work in Lebanon? Not only is it most likely attempting to achieve PNAC's ends in Lebanon, the whole semi-war greatly increases the odds of PNAC being able to successfully sell war with Syria and Iran. The only winners in this semi-war are the neocons.

1. The thing about all these wars, though,
is who/what are we supposed to fight them with? It sounds like our armed forces are pretty much maxed out as it is at this point.

5. It's possible that France, Germany and others were to supply occupation
forces after the U.S. did the heavy lifting. Bush blew all chances of that with his cowboy diplomacy.
