Interesting articles in Der Spiegel on Cuba
This one looks at how Bush is bungling the situation, and how the US embargo hurts American policy interest:

This is a short article on dissent in Cuba:

Two interesting points stand out, neither surprising. First, Castro's view on dissent is quite similar to what the neocons and freepers express: "In a Place that is Under Siege, Dissidence Amounts to Treason." Right. The constant authoritarian view equates dissent with treason. Second, the dissidents in Cuba do not view Bush as a friend. I hope in 2008 we elect a Democratic president who can build bridges to Cuba, rather than buttress walls, bridges that help liberalize a nation that especially needs that.
